Compassionate Support when you need it most
Take The First Step
It takes a strong person to seek the help they need and to follow through on it. The first step is always the hardest step to take. Most people feel some relief just by making that first phone call. Call 1-800-839-9443, Monday thru Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm, and a member of our Hiawatha Behavioral Health Access Team will be ready to assist you. When you call, your information is private and confidential. The call helps us learn more about what you’re going through and what kind of support you may need. Our goal is to make getting services as simple and comfortable as possible, whether you are calling for yourself, a family member, or someone you support.
If you would rather talk with someone in person, you are welcome to walk into any of our office locations during normal business hours. A member of our team will meet with you, talk through your needs, and help you understand what services and payment options are available to you.

- Demonstrate medical need for services.
If you do not qualify for services, our staff can assist you in finding or referring other services and local resources available to you.
Payment for Services / Non-Discrimination Clause
Hiawatha Behavioral Health will not deny services because of an inability to pay; and there is a discount/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income. Your services are based on eligibility, and what you pay is based on what you can afford.
We will work with you to review your insurance, income, and family size to determine your fee. Some individuals may qualify for a sliding fee scale, which lowers the cost of services based on income and family size. Individuals are required to provide proof of income and information about any insurance coverage, including those with Medicaid. All financial information is kept private and confidential.
If you do not agree with the fee you are assigned, you have the right to ask for a review of your fee.
If you have Medicaid or MiChild, and you qualify for services, most or all of your behavioral health services may be covered. If you have a Medicaid deductible or spend-down, you may be responsible for a reduced fee based on the sliding fee scale.
Hiawatha Behavioral Health does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, Medicaid or Medicare status, or ability to pay.
If you have questions about fees or the sliding fee scale, please contact your case manager, therapist, or Customer Service at 906-635-3707. We are here to help and will work with you to make sure you can access the care you need. We believe everyone in our community should be able to get the help they need, when they need it.
